Call to Repair the Texas Peace Officers' Memorial

This beautiful memorial pictured above was built to honor fallen law enforcement officers and corrections personnel whose lives were lost in the line of duty in the State of Texas. In recent years, however, the appearance of the memorial has become marred not merely by expected minor wear, but from widespread water damage and heavy efflorescence. In an effort to fully restore and maintain the memorial, The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) has been charged with the responsibility to raise money from private and public entities for the continued maintenance and update of the memorial (Texas Government Code, Title 11, Chapter 3501).

How bad is the damage?

An engineering study conducted on August 18, 2010 stated that the memorial is structurally sound, but has water drainage problems that will require an estimated $300,000 to repair. To see images of the damage, mouse over the "Damage Links" on the top left of this page.

What is being done?

TCLEOSE is currently working with a volunteer organization who is establishing a 501(c)3 corporation for the sole purpose of raising money to pay for repairs and maintenance of the memorial. This group is spearheading fundraising efforts. 100 Percent of funds raised will go to the Memorial repairs. To learn how you can help or participate, please visit our Events page.
